Notes
Our extremely rare vintage Zenith El Primero chronograph with date, reference A386 , features a 38mm stainless steel case with very desirable original and patinated dial and coeval hands ; this example of reference A386 also known as a mark 2. The world's first automatic wristwatch with automatic chronograph functionality and a legend in itself, the Zenith El Primero had a relatively limited early production run between 1969 and 1972, estimated to be in the region of 2000-4500 pieces across all early variants. This particular Zenith El Primero A386 is fitted with a high quality leather strap with steel tang buckle, both non- Zenith, however the original black leather Zenith leather strap is included, as is its original square black box. Additionally, a print out of the Zenith digital extract of the register ( archives ) accompanies this particular example: the extract stating production in the period between April and December 1970. Presented in outstanding condition for its age, there are naturally signs of use overall, the caseback has some notable scratches but is correct and original to this watch. The dial and overall appearance of this Zenith is extremely compelling, and this A386 would make a very worthy addition to any serious collection and is easily amongst the most attractive vintage chronographs that we have handled, irrespective of manufacturer.
