Notes
A unique table lamp comprising a German Luftwaffe steel helmet, gas mask and canister formed together to create this piece. In original condition, these historical artefacts were recovered from the Dom river area outside Stalingrad in Russia, which saw heavy battles through November-December 1942 . The German Fourth Panzer Army was under the command of General Hermann Hoth tasked with the guard of the outside perimeter of Stalingrad while the Sixth Army was persevering with the objective of capturing the city. In November 1942 the Russian Army mounted a significant winter counterattack breaking the dead lock and commencing the directional change which would ultimately stop the German push East.
Assembly of the helmet to the gas mask has been mounted via magnet and quality velcro to enable bulb changes and as displayed, the mask has a ‘flame’ effect lighting element fitted. (UK plug).
