Notes

This unusual vintage Heuer Daytona has historical importance (see history) and was introduced in 1976. This watch has been in the same collection since new and was recently overhauled by a senior watchmaker. Unusually, the hands, dial and bracelet are all original, show beautiful patina and the degrade blue dial has faded over time giving this watch a unique vintage appearance. The integrated bracelet has signs of use and some denting which we have left in place as it is hard to find a Heuer Daytona as original and complete as this one. The brushed steel case and bracelet also show signs of use and are not overpolished. Heuer watches have seen unprecedented rises in value of the past few years and this model has been largely overlooked for some time. We don't doubt this example has exceptional investment potential.

History

Introduced in 1976, the Heuer Daytona was the last Heuer model to use the in-house Chromatic movement. With a name chosen to inspire USA customers and to reflect the Daytona speedway (and for fans of the eponymous Ferrari), the design has bold yet understated 1970s cues, the oval shape of the case sits on the fitted bracelet and intended to be used for timing motor racing. Two dial variants were available, blue and smoke. The model was discontinued from the range in 1980.
