Notes

This stunning vintage Rolex Submariner 5513 is presented in outstanding condition and dates from 1977 with a clearly legible 527**** serial. The dial has a beautiful patina with age related wear to the lumices. The lugs and case are polished but retain excellent width. The hands have been replaced at service and are luminova, and the bezel has also been replaced as well as the perspex glass. The flip lock clasp and bracelet is a later 93150 with 580 end links. Sympathetically polished, refurbished and fully serviced, our example represents excellent value for a vintage 5513, and for practical every day wear. Our Rolex 5513 will come with its Rolex box, but no papers are present, as is common given the age.

History

ntroduced in 1953, the Submariner is undeniably the most recognisable Rolex product. Originally designed for deep sea diving, the Submariner has a committed following for its elegant style combined with a robust case. Arguably, the 5513 reference is the most faithful of the later incarnations and is known best as the James Bond Rolex, as worn by Roger Moore in Live and Let Die and Man with the Golden Gun. The turnable bezel is a tool for measuring time whilst under water (or parking meters) and the oversized crown adds extra impermeability to the screw down feature which defines the oyster models. This model is fitted with a flip lock divers extension to the bracelet to enable to watch to be worn over a wetsuit.
