Notes
Rolex invented the first waterproof wristwatch, the Oyster. This is a very early example of such a watch, a reference 1925 and is incredibly rare on its own, but even more so, as it comes with its original box and paperwork. Featuring a beautiful original and detailed dial, a cushion case of 9k gold, with fixed bars and a Prima 15 jewel movement, "timed six positions for all climates". The case back is stamped RWC Ltd, 20 world records with patents (GB / Swiss). The original crown is also present "oyster patent". Fitted is a 9k milanese bracelet. The caseback is engraved as it appears to have been a gift, in September 1930. The box states the 25 world records and that this watch was especially made for A Chillcott in Bristol. The certificate of guarantee by Rolex Precision Wristlets, details the sale of a gents Oyster on Milanese band, having been sold on 11th September 1930 by A Chillcott. This jeweller was a Bristol Rolex authorised dealer. We date manufacture of this reference 1925 to the year 1930, as it has a 24*** serial. The case size is 30 x 35mm (35mm with crown), and is suitable for ladies and gentlemen. A wonderful piece of history and quite unrepeatable.
