Notes
The iconic Omega Speedmaster Triple Date (reference 3520.53.00) is well known under various monikers: as the reduced size Speedmaster Mk40, the Schumacher (as Michael Schumacher was featured extensively in the advertising of this watch) and the Ben Clymer (as the founder of Hodinkee cites this reference as the watch that hooked him on watch collection!). Featuring a complicated but reliable modified Valjoux 7751 movement (without moon phase), the Speedmaster features a colourful dial with second timezone, chronograph, day date and month. Immensely practical for day and evening wear, our example has the more desirable Omega stainless steel strap with secure clasp. Comfortably amongst the best and earliest Omega Schumacher / Mk40s we have handled, We date production to c.1996, with a 55 *** serial number. This example is also presented in excellent unpolished condition with some light signs of use overall. Included is its original inner and outer box (the inner has significant degradation but included for completeness) , original swing tag with serial matching, original warranty card (stamped by its supplying Japanese dealer, serial completed but undated, instructions and associated paperwork and spare links. A presentation pouch will also be included given the condition of the original inner box. Worthy of any serious collection, especially given the accoutrements included, unlike many of this vintage. We date production to c.1996, with a 55 *** serial number, making this an early Mk40.
