The iconic and highly collectible Omega Speedmaster Triple Date (reference 3520.53.00) is well known under various monikers: as the reduced size Speedmaster Mk40, the Schumacher (as Michael Schumacher was featured extensively in the advertising of this watch) and the Ben Clymer (as the founder of Hodinkee cites this reference as the watch that hooked him on watch collection!). Featuring a complicated but reliable modified Valjoux 7751 movement (without moon phase), the Speedmaster Schumacher features a colourful dial with second timezone, chronograph, day date and month. Immensely practical for day and evening wear, our example is presented in outstanding condition, with little sign of use overall, and has the more desirable Omega stainless steel strap with secure clasp. This is comfortably amongst the very best Omega Schumacher / Mk40s of this reference we have handled. This example comes complete with inner and outer Omega box, instructions, wallet and warranty card dealer stamped in 2001, making it a very late retailed Mk40. We date production to c.1998, with a late 55 *** serial number. If you are looking for a superb Schumacher Speedy, this is very worthy of consideration and certainly destined for a serious collection.
