Notes

Our vintage and rare quartz Heuer Diver reference 980.023 (aka the Deep Dive or Spirotechnique) features a 42mm stainless steel case with rotating bezel and crown at 4 to reduce catching against a wetsuit. When launched, we understand in 1982, this reference was one of the most waterproof Heuer watches (the first at 1000m). This is an early example with Heuer only dial, as the company transitioned to TAG Heuer. The condition is good, this example has signs of use overall as likely used as intended, as a heavy duty sports watch. The patina to the bezel insert, pip, dial and hands are all coeval presenting a superb vintage feel. Included is its original box (worn), original papers showing it was first retailed in Plymouth UK in August 1986 along with receipt from the supplying dealer, as well as TAG Heuer service card from 1996. We have fitted a quality rubber strap with steel tang buckle, part of the original bracelet is included but incomplete, as we understand it was damaged at some stage. Given the location of the original sale, Plymouth, being a naval base and centre for maritime, it is highly likely that this watch was used for the purpose it was designed for. This would make a great and rare opportunity for a serious Heuer or dive focussed collection.
