Our vintage and rare Garrard presentation watch features a Dennison Aquatite 9k yellow gold case with screw down case back and 'bowler hat' crown and Smiths 18 jewel movement. A similar case and movement was worn by Sir Edmund Hilary on his Everest ascent. This Garrad Made in England signed arabic dial with sub seconds has light patina and the overall condition is very good with some age related marks to the case and case back. This example has a large for period case of 33.7mm exc crown, 35.9mm including crown, with 40.3mm lug to lug. A new leather strap and gold tone buckle are fitted. This example comes with Garrard box, warranty papers (2 years!) dated March 1962, care of watch guide, return instructions. The inscription on the case back reads "South Eastern Gas Board, presented to Joseph S Streete in recognition of forty years valued service 1921-1961, covering the inter war and WW2 period. The South Eastern Gas Board was formed as an amalgamation of private companies as part of Clement Atlee's post war nationalisation program. This is a historic and very attractive vintage watch.
