Notes
The Cartier Must de Cartier Tank is an iconic watch and our example is presented in very good condition and with the sought after mechanical, manual winding movement. Of all of the iterations of the Cartier Must de Cartier Tank, the ecru or cream dial with roman numerals is certainly the most classical look, with maximum recognisability. Our example has an excellent patina and very slight tarnish to the vermeil. The original Cartier vermeil tang buckle is attached to a Cartier 'lizard' strap with little sign of use. Unusually, our example comes with its original Cartier lifetime guarantee card, with date of sale in 1979, as well as service document from 1994 from Cartier Bond Street. There are some signs of use to the case, as would be expected, given the age of the watch. The Vermeil / gold plate is documented, as usual, at 20m.

History
History: With its origins dating to 1917, the Cartier Tank wristwatch is one of the most iconic watches and central to Cartier design philosophy. The Cartier Tank was originally envisaged as a wristwatch which would recall the lines of a tank, hence the name. Famous wearers include J. Kennedy, Pricess Diana, Yves Saint Laurent amongst many sporting celebrities, film and TV stars. The Cartier Tank Francaise was introduced in 1996 as a natural evolution of Cartier's Tank range.
