Notes

Our Rolex Daytona ref 116523 is dated 2002 on a K** serial and has an 18k yellow gold and steel bracelet and case. Our example features an extremely rare dial, which is a cream / 'Panna' colour. This dial variation occurs due to a manufacturing defect in the dial and the original white colour becomes cream over time. Noted only on K serial watches, the dial difference has been reported on forums and within collecting circles, but irrespective of this, it lends a superb look to the watch and adds a warmth to the yellow gold bezel. Our example is presented in outstanding and far above average standard with nil stretch to the bracelet, and a perfect case and bezel with the sole exception of a small 'ding' which is noticeable only when magnified and does not detract from the overall appearance of the watch. Our example is a full set and comes complete with all paperwork, instruction manual, handkerchief etc and original wooden box. This model has the more reliable Rolex movement and the watch has been time tested and overhauled by a Rolex trained watchmaker.

History

The Rolex Daytona needs little introduction. Arguably, the most sought after watch of recent times, the Daytona is known for being worn by Paul Newman, many film stars, TV stars as well as sporting personalities. Originally conceived as a tool watch for measuring motor racing speed times, the Daytona has subsequently been reimagined as the most glamorous timing device that is at home on the track as under water, in a boardroom, nightclub or beach.
