This 557** serial authentic Rolex Datejust Oysterquartz is an early model, coming with sale papers dated 1979. The dial has the classic two lines, which only featured between 1977 and 1980. The condition of this watch is well used, the bracelet exhibits some stretch and the case, back and bracelet have been polished over the years. Holding great vintage appeal from its era, this Rolex represents excellent value for money. This watch will also be sold with its Oysterquartz 17013 box and booklet, which are exceptionally rare to find. The condition of the box is poor, with signs of disintegration. History
Following the 1970s trend to go quartz, Rolex responded by introducing the Oysterquartz, which had all of the excellent Rolex qualities coupled to a highly complicated and market leading quartz movement. The design was by Gerald Genta. Produced with an in-house movement from 1977 until 2001, it is widely accepted that 25,000 Rolex Oysterquartz watches (steel, steel and gold, gold) were produced, making this model comparatively rare.
